Cabo Intercollegiate Golf Tournament

Querencia Los Cabos Golf Club entertained the Cabo Intercollegiate, hosted by Santa Clara University this past weekend, and the fans really enjoyed the action.  The 54-hole tournament was played over three days, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with 18 holes each day.  The excitement was memorable, as some teams played some of the BEST team golf ever.

The Cabo Intercollegiate was made up of a 12-team field, including (2010-11 Golfstat rank in parentheses): Arkansas (23), Boise State (119), Cal State Northridge (N/A), Houston (59), Lamar (44), Oregon State (N/A), Pacific (N/A), Saint Mary’s (155), Santa Clara (89), SMU (96), UC Irvine (N/A), UT-Arlington (90).

Each team’s line up was comprised of five golfers with the lowest four scores for each round counting towards the overall team score.

Tom Fazio designed Querencia Golf Club is a par-72 championship golf course that measures 7,070 yards from the back tees, with a slope of 74.8 and a 147 rating. Querencia Golf Club, a true gem of Baja, offers a  celebration of nature within a private, but relaxed club atmospheres. Querencia offers spectacular views from every hole, and presents a challenging yet playable golf experience that both daunts and delights its players. The harmonious transitions from hole-to-hole provide subtle breaks, contoured fairways, and uniquely shaped bunkers.

Jamie Marshall from Arkansas took first, and tied for second was Austin Cook (Arkansas), Jerry He (UC Irvine), and Kelly Kraft (SMU). To view all teams and player stat’s, please go to Cabo Invitational Stat’s.
