Spring Break Vacation
Spring break vacation celebrations are week-long recesses from studying in early
spring at universities across the United States, Canada, Japan, China and numerous
other countries. It is commonly a time to travel, usually away from school and
home to tropical locations and party, whichever way suits you! In the United
States, spring break vacation will range from the end of February to mid April,
most commonly the first two weeks of March. In Canada, it is called Reading
week and occurs in February. In Japan, spring break vacation begins with the
end of the academic year (March) and ends with the beginning of the new academic
year (April 1st). The spring break is not only celebrated in universities but
also in grade schools through high school and is usually referred to as the
March break which allows a family to find a vacation break together.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Florida in particular Fort Lauderdale, was the most popular destination in the United States. Many local residents became upset at the damage done by the vacationers which led to strict local government laws restricting parties. This led to the students moving their locale to the much more liberal Daytona Beach area in Florida. By the mid 1990s, the local residents also decided to restrict partying.
By the end of the 1990s, students began traveling to Mexico and Jamaica for their newly found Spring Break vacation party headquarters. Other popular spots can be found in Cancun, Acapulco, South Padre Island in Texas and Panama City Beach in Florida.
Beaches, Bars and Sports.
What could be more enticing than 27 miles of sugar white beaches, emerald green
waters, trendy night clubs, and the raucous party atmosphere that Cabo San Lucas
Mexico has to offer to help young adults blow off a little steam! The sun shines
350 days out of the year, the hottest entertainment and best “bar lounges
in the sun” can be found along the eighteen mile stretch of coastline
along the Cabo San Lucas Tourist Corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo
San Lucas. Lest we mention the miles of shops and restaurants,
fishing and charters,
all inclusive resorts,
and spectacular villas
to accommodate the whole family.
If sun, beach and sand are not your choice of shaking off half a year of school,
surfing, fishing and golf
are among the major sports found in Cabo San Lucas. Hiking adventures are awaiting
in Los Cabos' starkly beautiful desert landscape. In addition to incredible
rock formations, sprawling vistas and hardy desert vegetation, hikers will see
lizards, jack rabbits and rattlesnakes (tall leather boots are a must). Favorite
areas are in the nearby La Laguna Mountains and fossil fields of the Cape region.
A spectacular hike is to the waterfalls (or "cascadas") at Santiago
with a guide. Mountain biking is a fast and spirited sport for all the family
to enjoy with numerous bicycle clubs and many hotels rent bikes by the day or
hour. Be sure to take an off-road trip Punta Gorda, Mexico! Aqua adventures
await you when you paddle crystal blue waters and watch for dolphins, manta
rays, then snorkel on the only living coral reef in Baja, Mexico. Spring Break
gets better and better! We have mountain biking packages, hiking, horseback
riding and ecotours highlighted on our activities site at www.caboconcierge.net

Cabo San Lucas is heaven on earth when talking kayaking!
If you're a nature enthusiast and want to keep in shape (yes even during spring
break!) kayaking in Cabo Pulmo which is a National Marine Park and the only
living coral reef on the Pacific side of North America is the place to go. Scuba
diving is unmatched in Cabo Pulmo as well. Eight volcanic ridges and
a deep water trench combine to offer a rich environment for the numerous colorful
species of marine life concentrated in this small area. Some of the best scuba
diving and snorkeling can be found here, you can access this area from shore
or by kayak. The water is usually calm, and many species of tropical fish, coral
and gorgonians living can be observed.

World Class Skimming in Cabo!
How about discovering what skimming
is all about? Here’s a sport that is relatively new by board sports standards
and already Cabo San Lucas is being called a world class location! Skimming
boards are made of epoxy and foam, the riders stand on the beach and watch for
that perfect breaking wave to come into shore. This is when the rider runs into
the water throwing his or her board down and skimming along the surface into
the oncoming wave, then using the breaking wave to maneuver and perform tricks
that can be likened to snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing, all while in
only inches of water just off the shoreline. Skimming boards can also be rented
for the whole family on most beaches.
