Cabo San Lucas has been known worldwide for its beautiful beaches, exotic landscapes,
astounding villas and championship fishing. Unless you have experienced the
excitement and challenges of the golf courses in Cabo San Lucas, you might not
be aware that Cabo has been ranked fourteenth by Golf Digest in its “Top 50
Worldwide Destinations for Golfers”. No matter which course you are scheduled
to play, all golf courses in Cabo have views of the multi-hued Sea of Cortés
that frame Los Cabos which makes Cabo San Lucas unique as a golf and resort
destination.
Los Cabos has been the site of the PGA Senior Slam Tournament since 1995 and
attracts golf's greatest players such as Raymond Floyd, Dave Stockman and Hale
Erwin. Found nowhere else, this magnificent terrain is comparable to that found
in Arizona and California desert golf courses. The presence of the Sea of Cortez
bordering nearly every hole sets Los Cabos apart as a water wonderland of incredible
hues as far as the eye can see.
Banked by blue crystal clear waters, the courses wind through the 20 mile oceanfront
Tourist corridor with spectacular views complimenting each distinct course design.
There’s almost a round of golf with ocean holes alone with 15 of these along
the shoreline. Golfing in Cabo San Lucas is not for the amateur or beginner
golfer – it is common to go through a sleeve or more of golf balls in just one
round. Learning to perfect a shot from out of the arroyos (dry sandy river beds)
is important as you might encounter more than one during a round of golf. There
are plenty of small canyons and arroyos to negotiate while attempting to stay
clear of the desert scrub brush and cacti surrounding the fairways.
On average, a round of golf will cost over $200USD, certainly an expensive afternoon’s sport, yet comparable to a day’s deep sea fishing. However, few golfing experiences anywhere around the world will leave you as impressed with the quality of design, the exceptional weather and the seductive scenery as Cabo San Lucas will.
