The dream of fighting a big fish haunts all fishermen. An exhausting fight lasting for hours, the thrill of experiencing the power that suddenly surges from the ocean depth and tantalizes you with excitement - these are some of the ingredients that make the fishing in Cabo San Lucas a memorable experience for sea anglers of all ages and levels. Renown for the abundance of big-game fish and year around superb fishing, Cabo San Lucas & Los Cabos fishing charters boast a number of international fishing records. Due to the fact that there are more striped marlin caught within a radius of twenty miles of Cabo San Lucas all year round, this area is known as the marlin capitol of the world. Dorado (mahi-mahi), wahoo and yellowfin tuna are plentiful and don't be surprised if you have one jump right into your boat! Catch and release is the name of the game for marlin fishing and other troy fish. Mahi-mahi and tuna can be kept. The late Jacques-Yves Cousteau visited over twenty times and named the Sea of Cortés the "world's aquarium". Officially known as the Gulf of California, this sea supports more marine life than any other body of water on earth. The Sea of Cortés is Earth's newest sea though it was formed five million years ago when Baja California separated from the Mexican mainland along the San Andreas fault. It is now home to over 800 species of marine vertebrates and 2,000 invertebrates.
A fishing trip to an exotic destination such as Cabo San Lucas requires planning, preparation and research. Our charters consist of two kinds of fishing boats: the pangas which are very big row boats with outboard motors providing few amenities or you might consider a cruiser which is a modern fiberglass boat providing shelter from the sun and includes bathroom facilities, staff, meals and electronic fish finding gear. Luckily, getting the most of that investment and making sure the fishing adventure goes smoothly is often just a matter of asking the right people the right questions. At Cabo San Lucas Villas we have done all of the planning and research, and are prepared to address any of the questions that may arise prior or after your fishing trip. Providing good service during our fishing trips is critical. The ability to catch fish is one thing, but it is not something that can be controlled. What can be controlled is the quality of the fishing equipment and the conditions on the boat. We realize that most of our clients appreciate a well-rigged boat and the professionalism of our fishing crews.
Whether your preferred method of fishing is trolling, casting, or drifting,
whether you prefer fishing with artificial, live or cut baits, whether you are
after marlin, mahi-mahi, or yellowfin, the knowledgeable crews of Cabo San Lucas
fishing charters make your fishing experience a memorable one. There are charters
for half day outings, full day or multi day fishing excursions with on-board
living accommodations. Please contact us at Cabo San Lucas Villas and we'll
help you to arrange an enjoyable fishing outing on your next visit to Cabo San
Lucas or Los Cabos. Our fleet of sport fishing or leisure charters on boats
or yachts range from 31' on up to 120'.

BILLFISH: A great week for fishing in Cabo, but again, more for a mixed bag rather than exclusively billfish. “Ruthless” started out the week with a bang with two sailfish, one striped marlin, two tuna and one dorado, at the Golden Gate for Heather and Matthew Adamson from Dallas,Texas. Next day out, “Valerie” fished just outside the Golden Gate, and kept anglers, also from Texas, busy with one striped marlin, one sailfish and nine dorado. On August 30th, “Valerie” was out top boat again with three striped marlin released and four dorado up to 30 lbs for Leslie Kline form Miami, Florida. This same day “Bill Collector” did well to release one marlin and catch seven tuna and twelve dorado; following up the next day, this boat did even better with two striped marlin, twelve dorado and ten tuna for Matt Rainwater, from Los Angeles, Ca. On September 2nd, “La Brisa” fished at Elias Calles on the Pacific and managed to release two sailfish, one striped marlin and boat ten dorado. Not to be outdone, “Bill Collector” again, fishing close by at Pozo de Cota, released two striped marlin, one sailfish and caught ten dorado and five tuna. All in all a great week, with all but one boat catching fish. All the fishing was on the Pacific side. Fifty six percent of charters caught striped marlin or sailfish, with no blue marlin for us this week. Pisces anglers caught a total of 29 striped marlin and 9 sailfish; all but one were released.
OTHER SPECIES: Well, we could have called this the dorado report…..ninety six percent of charters caught dorado in the 15 to 40 lb class, which is nice to see, as last year was exceptionally slow for this species. Boats caught from on to twelve dorado and it was nice to see the smaller fish released. Lures worked well, with the green and yellow combinations working best. Pisces anglers totaled 288 dorado this week. Yellow fin tuna catches were slower with twenty one percent of charters catching between one and thirteen in a day. They were found in the same areas as dorado and took cedar plugs and green lures.
WEATHER CONDITIONS: Partly cloudy skies, seas calm to moderate.
LOCATION: Pacific, Pozo de Cota to Golden Gate.
AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 85 F
BEST LURES: Caballito for marlin, cedar plugs tuna, green combos for dorado.

history. With anglers coming from Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Chile,
Costa Rica, Tahiti, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia and the Ukraine, Switzerland,
the U.K. and 47 U.S. States, making up166 teams and competing pole to ploe for

events!
The largest fish caught was a 620 lb. blue marlin aboard Angel and
the Badman II earning the team $734,415.00.
They were followed by a 591 lb. blue marlin on the Missing Lenk giving
them $461,962.50.
The third place team, Bad Company Wyoming Cowboys took the largest
purse of the tournament for their 539 lb. blue marlin. The team walked away
with an astonishing $1,421,752.00 making them the recipient of the second largest
award handed out in Bisbee’s history. Why did the third place team get
the most money? In this event it’s all about which of the optional daily
categories you enter, and Bad Company Wyoming Cowboys entered across
the board.
The top Release Team this year, with an outstanding release effort, was the Contender One with 31 billfish releases. The Florida team fished aboard a 33’ Contender captained by Bill Cordes.

prestigious offshore championship title with 10 marlin releases on the final
day of the 2007 IGFA Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico aboard

The Premier All-Release Circle Hook Marlin Tournament - May 27th
- 31st 2007.
All circle hook! All release! That's the only way to ensure the future of marlin
and billfish fisheries as well as to preserve recreational and tournament fishing
– not only in Cabo San Lucas and the Baja peninsula but worldwide. Everyday,
thousands of marlin, sailfish and other billfish species are killed, most by
commercial fishing boats – longliners that have little if any concern
over the plight of marlin or other “incidental catch". Countless
other marlin and billfish are taken as trophies by uninformed anglers –
a large number of which compete in billfish tournaments that require a weigh-in
to determine the winners. By refocusing attention on the destructive methods
used and how simple changes in techniques can minimize loss we hope to set a
new precedent - Responsible, Conservation-Based Tournaments and a renewed effort
to enforce Responsible Commercial Fishing.
In the spirit of Competition, Sportsmanship and Conservation, the world's top
anglers have united to present one of the richest and most prestigious billfish
tournaments ever held. The World Championship Billfish Release Tournament (WCBRT)
is set for May 27th through May 31st at the beautiful Cabo Villas Beach Resort
in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

of $243,060.00. While there were over a hundred billfish caught and released,
it took until the third and final day to land a marlin surpass the event's 300
lb. minimum weight limit. The 344 lb. blue marlin was caught by lady angler
Charlene Sanford fishing with her husband "Adam onboard their 35' Scopinich
"Adam's Folly". The Sanfords are from Colts Head, New Jersey, and reside in
the East Cape for a good part of each year. They earned a total of $224,244.00
