Cabo Fishing Tournaments
Cabo fishing tournaments are world famous for the abundance of fish and prize money that they deliver to the serious angler. The most popular series of tournaments begins in July and runs through October. This is when Bisbee hosts three of its most coveted tournaments: the East Cape Offshore, The Los Cabos San Lucas, and Bisbee's Black & Blue. Last year's Black and Blue Tournament saw the largest individual team purse prize winner take home a whopping $2,234,035.00. The top winner in the Los Cabos Offshore Tournament went home with $114,462.00. This year, we expect even greater purses in these two events.
Fishermen who didn't get a chance to come down this last year, and who don't want to wait until July 2009, can still get some great tournament action this May. The All-Release, All-Circle Hook Tournament is not only a great way to experience great Cabo fishing in the late Spring, but also to participate in an activity focused on conservation and the preservation of billfish species.
Cabo Fish Species
Although the Sea of Cortez is technically the world's "youngest" ocean, it nevertheless has had five million years to produce an abundance of marine wildlife. Some of the most highly sought after sports fish in the world abound in these waters. These include Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado (Mahi Mahi). Wahoo.
Cabo fishing is good year round for any number of these species, with peak fishing times for Marlin and Dorado occurring primarily in and around tournament times.
Cabo Fishing Boats
Cabo fishing boats are divided into two categories: Sport Fishing Charters and Fishing Yachts. Charter boats range from 24-45 feet, and they are geared toward the angler with a 100% focus on fishing itself. While basic amenities are provided on some of the larger boats, most equipment on board is primarily fishing-oriented. Our fleet offers some of the best captains and fishing tackle, navigational, and fish-finding equipment in Mexico. Parties of up to 8 persons can be booked on the larger boats. Prices range between $529.00--$2600.00 based on the size of the boat, the length of the trip (half day or full day), and the number of guests.
