Fishing Luxury in Cabo San Lucas

If you have never gone sportfishing in Cabo San Lucas you are missing out. Recently, my friends and I had the opportunity to go out on the “Lucky Hooker”, one of the finest fishing yachts in Cabo San Lucas. This custom 70 ft. Huckins could easily have been mistaken for a luxury yacht and in fact is. The only difference was the fighting chair. This beautiful boat owned by Marlin Masters had all the amenities including a galley larger than my kitchen at home.

We started out at 9 am on a beautiful sunny morning with 4 anglers, Captain Carlos and the crew. Both the Captain and crew were extremely helpful, especially considering this was my first time out deep sea fishing. I was not expecting to catch anything as we were only on a half day cruise. However, once I sat in the fighting chair the excitement hit me and my friends immediately. A couple hours into the trip the Captain guided us to a hot fishing spot for Yellow Fin Tuna. We could see the ripples of a giant school on the crest of the water and immediately knew we hit pay dirt.

Not long after, one pole bent then all of our reels started to “zing”. The crew guided us on what to do and we started the fight. Man against fish. After fifteen minutes of laughing and shouting with excitement, the new found anglers pulled the last tuna in. We had each caught 35-45 lb. tuna at the same time! Arms tired and smiles a plenty we soon had lunch with the crew swapping stories and laughing all the way back to shore. This experience was one of the greatest of my lifetime and I retell the story often about how I caught a fish “this big”.
